Pink and Black Magic

November 19th, 2006 | News | 0 Comments

This weekend the Prom family, owners of Voyageur Canoe Outfitters on the Gunflint Trail, visited a special place in the woods, Black Magic Kennels.  Mark and Mary Black own and operate this kennel where they raise and train sled dogs for racing.

The Black’s have started a special program where you can adopt a sled dog and make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.  If you adopt a Varsity dog from their kennel then $100.00 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through Pink Paddles.  Pink Paddles were designed by Sue Prom and are lightweight, bent-shaft, graphite canoe paddles that are sold to raise money for breast cancer research.

We all had a great time visiting Black Magic Kennels and meeting all of the wonderful sled dogs.  We decided to adopt Zena and are excited to follow her these next few months and see how she performs during the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon.

If you’re looking for a unique gift this Christmas then adopt a dog and help save a life through  Black Magic Kennels Adopt a Canine Klub.
