POINTS of INTEREST & PICNIC SITES

The USDA Forest Service campgrounds are great places to picnic. These areas are located at Kimball Lake Campground (off the Trout Lake Road), East Bearskin Campground (East Bearskin Road), Flour Lake Campground (Clearwater Road), Iron Lake Campground (old Gunflint Trail), and End of the Trail Campground.

Pull-offs with a picnic table and wilderness latrine are located at Swamper Lake, Little Iron Lake, the Laurentian Divide, and the Magenetic Rock Hiking Trail parking area.

Points of Interest:

Approximately 2 miles from Grand Marais, turn on CR#53 to the Pincushion Recreation Area and Overlook. The view of the hillside, Lake Superior and Grand Marais is spectacular. This is the parking area for the cross-country ski area in the winter and Superior Hiking Trail access in spring, summer, and fall.
