When you’ve got a million acres to explore,
every day is different.
On the Gunflint Trail, you come face-to-face with northern Minnesota’s best and most beautiful wilderness. The sparkling, clear lakes in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness — most of which are never interrupted by the sound of a motor. Mile after mile of hiking and ski trails.
Across the border, find the unspoiled natural forests of Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park. It would take a few lifetimes to see it all, but a day trip from your base camp (or resort) is a perfect way to get your feet wet.
Pick an outfitter for a day to pack your family right, and you’ll find out on day one if the kids are ready for such a trip and if canoeing is right for you.
If so, plan an extended wilderness trip for another season, and travel from lake to lake and island to island, just like the Voyageurs did centuries ago. Don’t forget, you still need a permit for day trips into Canadian waters.
Other day trips activities include
Birding
Hiking
Biking
Berry Picking
Chik-Wauk Museum & Nature Center
…and More
