Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing trails, guided treks, snowshoe rentals and lessons -- it's all right here on the Gunflint Trail. Along the Gunflint Trail, nine separate trails, covering a total distance of 25 miles of marked, groomed trails are specifically developed for snowshoeing. On snowshoes, you'll experience the pristine magic of winter in the Northwoods while traveling at a leisurely pace. If you want to leave the groomed trail behind, with a pair of snowshoes on your feet, the entire Northwoods becomes your playground.
Snowshoeing is a great activity for the entire family: it's easy to learn, doesn't require great athletic prowess and you don't need any fancy or expensive equipment - plus, it offers a wonderful, gentle workout. Trek through the woods to find brush trimmed by deer, the sliding tracks of an otter, wing marks of an owl, and the cloven prints of a moose (among those of many other Northwoods creatures). A guided snowshoe trek with a naturalist can help you discover some of the special things that can only be seen at a snowshoer's pace.
